Working in the tradition of Errol Morris’ more fantastical documentaries, I Touched All Your Stuff plucks eccentric and mysterious personality Christopher Kirk out of the obscurity of a Brazilian prison. This is a movie about Kirk, an American who moves to Colombia after reading about Pablo Escobar’s hippopotamuses, but this is also a movie about V., an enigmatic woman he becomes infatuated with. I Touched All Your Stuff (with an equally equivocal Portuguese title that translates to The Secret Life of Hippopotamuses) teases out the particulars of this fascinating and unpredictable story with a masterful touch.
