9 year-old Lola and her free-spirited mom live on a houseboat called ‘The Pea’ in a small German town. Ever since her father split, Lola has vowed not to cut her hair and wants nothing to change until he returns. Frustrated, losing friends, driving her mother (who is ready to move on!) crazy, finally Lola meets an intriguing new friend named Rebin, who sometimes disappears.
Checking into Rebin’s mysterious behavior, Lola discovers his Kurdish family is struggling to get by as undocumented workers. Together, Lola and Rebin navigate their colliding cultural worlds with humor and learn to trust in their future in spite of it all.
