In the Tibetan region of Amdo, the neighbouring villages of Lhalong and Damo compete in an archery contest for the Sacred Arrow, a traditional totem representing strength, bravery, peace and joy. According to the thousand-year custom, the winner gets to keep the Arrow until the following year’s contest. Pema Tseden (Old Dog), one of the premier Tibetan directors working today, perfectly captures the clash of traditions and the modern world facing Tibet today in a story of competition, friendship and love.
