Description

Paul Huttner Attending April 17

A special Science on Screen presentation with an introduction by Minnesota Public Radio chief meteorologist Paul Huttner before the Sunday, April 17 screening.

In 1955 Claude Lorius replied to an ad for a one-year journey in the Antarctic. Sixty years later, after more than 20 expeditions, Lorius is a glaciologist who has led the way in studying the alarming effects of climate change. Director Luc Jacquet, who brought us March of the Penguins, tells Lorius’ story “as a genuine reflection of our planet’s history.” Ice and the Sky is an inspirational documentary on Lorius’ life—full of fascinating archival footage and amazing vistas of the Antarctic landscape—but also a cautionary tale on how rapidly and irrevocably these vistas are changing.

paul huttner, mpr, mspiffMPR Meteorologist and host of Climate Cast, Paul Huttner sheds a ray of light on the correlation between local Minnesota weather patterns and our changing global climate. Paul Huttner is chief meteorologist for Minnesota Public Radio. Huttner has worked TV and radio stations in Minneapolis, Tucson and Chicago. Paul is a graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul and holds a bachelor’s degree in geography with an emphasis in meteorology.
