"I'M A LITTLE TOO ROCK FOR COUNTRY AND A LITTLE TOO COUNTRY FOR ROCK."

Country music newcomer, Braxton Calhoun, is a breath of fresh air to those who are fed up with how soft the country scene has become. Fresh off of his last tour as lead singer for Trig County, Braxton is looking to kick-off his solo career by bringing attitude, grit and authenticity back into country music. "Everybody wants to sing about the woods. Everybody wants to sing about trucks, beer, and huntin’. I came from that. I’m not here to prove how country I am. I’m here to tell you how it really is."

Braxton’s major influences range from Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks to Breaking Benjamin and Metallica. These influences seep through to his music with foot stomping rock riffs and shakin’ drum grooves. Braxton describes his musical style as, "Rock with country lyrics and a country voice." His style is best understood during his live performances. Braxton’s explosive attitude and theatrical stage presence can turn a patron’s dull night into an all night rager. "I’m not out there because I won a beauty contest. I’m out there because I got something to say."

Braxton was born and raised in Springfield, GA. At an early age, Braxton displayed interest for entertainment by performing skits for his family and at Springfield First Baptist Church. His first big performance, which would later become known as the turning-point in his life, was during his high school graduation. It had only been one year after 9/11, and Braxton performed the song "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" by Alan Jackson in front of thousands of people. "Everyone stood up, clapped and cheered. I had never experienced anything like that before. That’s when I knew I wanted to pursue a career in music."
