The Sense Of An Ending
The Sense Of An Ending | 108mins |
Tony Webster (Howle, later Broadbent) had little choice but to become a curmudgeon. After his girlfriend, Veronica (Mavor, later Rampling) leaves him for a classmate, he gives up his dreams of being a poet and settles back to try to live with himself (and others, if necessary) as best he can. Decades later, he receives a letter mentioning a diary that dredges up old memories and sets him on a course for answers. Why did Veronica leave him? Did she ever love him? Was it really Veronica that he loved?
The answers won't be as easy to attain as Tony hopes. And even if he gets them, they might not be ones he wanted.
Memory has a funny way of playing tricks on you.
