Description

Mois de la Francophonie March 2017: A celebration of Senegal, le pays de la "Teranga" Celebrating Senegalese cinema!

Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul and the Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul are pleased to host a screening of two Senegalese short films:

Un transport en commun (Saint Louis Blues)

Director: Dyana Gaye | 48min | Drama | 2009
In French and Wolof with English subtitles
This sweet Senegalese musical takes us on a cross-country trip through Senegal, from Dakar to Saint Louis in a battered taxi, as passengers sing their stories.

Revers de l'exil

Director: Angèle Diabang, Fabacary Assymby Coly | 26min | Documentary | 2007
In French with NO English subtitles
The couple Lemoine and Gérard Chenet are among the many Haitians who left their native land to escape the dictatorship of François Duvalier, some forty years ago. Through their art (theater, music, sculpture), they managed to manage their exile and express what their status as exiles did not allow them to say. This film is a look over the shoulder of forty years of exile to hear the words of their modest silence of all his years.
