Retro Picture Show presents a 35th anniversary screening of
CREEPSHOW followed by an ultra-rare screening of Mario Bava's BLACK SABBATH.
Two classic horror anthologies, both on 35mm!
CREEPSHOW (1982) [35th Anniversary Screening]
Five ghoulishly clever stories, each told in the lurid comic-book style of
famed ‘50s EC titles like “Tales from the Crypt” – that’s what “Creepshow” has
in store for you. It’s a virtuoso exercise in frightfulness, topped off with
the gallows humor that nostalgia buffs will recognize as an EC trademark.
You’ll even see framing illustrations by Jack Kamen, an EC regular from the
heyday of horror comics. (US, 1982, 120 mins, Dir. George A. Romero, 35mm)
Mario Bava’s BLACK SABBATH (1963) [AIP English Language Version]
One of the great horror anthology films, and Bava’s personal favorite of his
works, BLACK SABBATH solidified the director’s reputation as Europe’s maestro
of the macabre. (Italy, 1963, 92 mins, Dir. Mario Bava, 35mm)
