Description

In 2005, in the rural Santander, Colombia village of Güepsa, locals who work at the oil refineries must hand over large payments of money to right-wing paramilitaries in order to be left alone to do their work. Willington is one of a group of men charged with making these payments, but when their contact is murdered during a clandestine transaction, the men are stunned to find themselves with a bundle of money and no one to hand it over to. Suddenly, they might be rich, for if president Álvaro Uribe’s recent treaty with the paramilitary commanders works, no one will collect the money. But if the treaty fails, every man who failed to deliver that cash can count the days he has left on this earth. Iván Gaona’s debut feature is “…not a guilty pleasure but just a pleasure.” —The Hollywood Reporter
