When struggling actor Jacques finds himself at the mercy of the local mob for his outrageous gambling debts, he flees Montreal and heads to the remotest part of northern Quebec. There he meets Simon, a really grumpy farmer who forces Jacques to help him harvest his bumper crop of marijuana. Soon they’re joined by Francesca, a hydrologist with some pretty great ideas on how to improve the crop. But Jacques’ rough past follows him all the way up north, leading to a confrontation that might prove fatal.

Inspired by the Coen Brothers and Italian crime films of the 70s, Bad Seeds is a warm, yet edgy thriller that also celebrates friendship. “[R]emains humane but restrained in its appreciation of a gang of misfits who rescue each other from solitude with the help of some valuable weed.” —Variety
