Bill Frisell will introduce Emma Franz’s film and do a post-screening Q&A on 4/24

Grammy Award winner and Downbeat Guitarist of the Year for ten straight years, Bill Frisell is considered a “musician's musician”, a guitarist celebrated by his peers but often ignored by the music-loving public. This documentary is a warm and insightful look at the man who revolutionized jazz guitar, and whose contributions to some of the best albums by better-known performers are legendary (not to mention his own catalogue of 45 LPs). Featuring a collection of live performances that capture the full range of Frisell’s music, as well as stories from his fellow musicians that capture not only the man, but the admiration of the people who have worked with him. From jazz, country, folk, rock, blues, pop, avant-garde, and more, Bill Frisell has shaped music forever.

Bill Frisell will be performing live at the Hopkins Center for the Arts on Tuesday, April 25. Bring your film ticket stub or receipt and get into the performance at a discounted rate. More information here.

"One of the most compelling, entertaining and informative films made about a living music legend who still has plenty left to say...even if words are rarely his medium of choice." - John Kelman, All About Jazz

"an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the modest and reticent Frisell at home, onstage, and in the studio, providing firsthand glimpses of his creative process." - Jay Trachtenberg, Austin Chronicle
