Inspired by the films of Jacques Demy and Stanley Donen, the effervescent musical Footnotes (formerly titled Julie and the Shoe Factory) is at once a hilarious comedy with toe-tapping songs as well as a delicious romance. Julie is a practical young woman who has just landed a dream job at one of France’s most prestigious shoe factories. But a restructuring plan comes through, threatening to send the manufacturing arm overseas. When a group of wily female co-workers comes up with a plan to resuscitate one of the company’s most iconic brands, and at the same time protest this move, everything goes topsy-turvy. And when Samy, a truck driver as witty as he is charming, joins the battle, Julie simply doesn’t know which way is up.

Directors’ Biographies
Paul Calori: Paul Calori was born in Marseilles in 1978. He studied at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris and then La Fémis. He is the director of the short film Le jour où le soleil s'est éteint ('05) and, with his directing partner Kostia Testut, The Peak Times ('07) and The Silence of the Machines ('08).
Kostia Testut: Kostia Testut was born in Montereau-Fault-Yonne, France in 1980. He graduated with a Masters in Information Science from the University Sorbonne-Nouvelle-Paris, and then studied filmmaking at La Fémis. With Paul Calori, he directed the short film The Silence of the Machines.
