Cora, a 19-year-old girl, has begun a sabbatical year and recently returned to her childhood home, the fictional small town of Bucco. Her father is the mayor and is deep in preparation to organize the celebrations for the Feast of the Virgin of Bucco, an annual event which attracts many Roman Catholic pilgrims and tourists. But the arrival of the mysterious Saverio gradually upsets the harmony of this “holy” place, unearthing a crime committed by the villagers 40 years before and exposing long buried animosity, rivalry, and deceit. Cora is witness to this spectacle, and will emerge with a new outlook on the town, on strangers, and especially on her father.
