Description

Director Rebecca Carpenter attending 4/23

When Lewis Carpenter, a running back for the fabled Green Bay Packers during Vince Lombardi’s time, dies, his family receives a shock: Boston University’s brain bank wants his brain to test for Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative neurocognitive disorder that can cause episodes of rage, social withdrawal, and other unusual behaviors. When the results are positive, his daughter, director Rebecca Carpenter, camera in hand, takes a three-year journey to examine the biggest problem in the NFL’s history.

Interviewing her father’s former teammates and adversaries, scientists, historians, and other families affected by CTE, Carpenter pursues a mystery that is decades in the making.
