When one member of a group of drug-addicted, disaffected teens murders a young woman, the others’ response is cover up the crime and bury whatever feelings remain. Directed with an utterly dispassionate eye by Tim Hunter, and assembling a cast of future stars of the late 80s and early 90s (Crispin Glover, Keanu Reeves, Ione Skye), River’s Edge was instantly hailed as a classic, a masterpiece that was a perfect foil for the lighthearted teenage comedies from John Hughes and company. “This is the best analytical film about a crime since The Onion Field and In Cold BloodRiver's Edge is not a film I will forget very soon.” - Roger Ebert

Directors Biography

Tim Hunter: Writer-director Tim Hunter made his directorial debut with Tex in 1982, an adaptation of youth author S.E. Hinton's coming-of-age drama, soon followed by the dark teen drama River's Edge in 1986, winning an Independent Spirit Award and a Grand Jury Prize nomination at Sundance. Hunter has since moved to a successful career in television, directing episodes for Twin Peaks, Homicide: Life on the Street, Dexter, and Mad Men, among many others.
