Behind the Scenes of Singing in the Rain:
What a Glorious Feeling!

Monday, April 17 at 7:30 pm | Members $11 | Public $16

Join film historian Philip Harwood for an entertaining exploration of one of the most beloved musicals of all time!

It is considered, by many, to be one of the greatest film musicals ever made. The story about the bumpy transition from the silent to sound era is lovingly told in Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen’s 1952 MGM musical, Singin’ In The Rain. Produced by the legendary Arthur Freed, who asked screenwriters Adolph Green and Betty Comden to write a screenplay which would include the songs written by Freed, with Nacio Herb Brown. The rest, as they say, is delightful musical history. Film Historian Philip Harwood takes you behind the scenes of the making of Singin’ In The Rain: we will hear behind the scenes tidbits from one of the film’s stars, Debbie Reynolds, a musical outtake from the film, and early sequences from MGM musicals which feature songs later to be performed in Singin' In The Rain (the title number, Broadway Rhythm, You Are My Lucky Star, and others). Come celebrate the film’s 65th anniversary. “What a glorious feeling!”
