Small-time operator Norman Oppenheimer's life dramatically changes for better and worse after the young politician he befriended three years ago becomes prime minister of Israel.
In the margins of New York City, Norman Oppenheimer (Richard Gere), dreams up financial schemes but his incessant networking leads him nowhere. Always looking for someone willing to pay attention to him, Norman befriends Micha Eshel (Lior Ashkenazi), a lonely Israeli politician. When Eshel becomes Prime Minister three years later, Norman uses Eshel’s name to leverage a series of quid pro quo transactions linking Norman’s nephew (Michael Sheen), a rabbi (Steve Buscemi), a mogul (Harris Yulin), his assistant (Dan Stevens), and a treasury official from the Ivory Coast. Norman’s plans go awry, creating the potential for an international catastrophe. (USA, 2016, 113 min., English, NR, DCP | Dir. Joseph Cedar)
