With special guest Dr. Harriet Fields, granddaughter of W.C. Fields and global health activist!

In the hilarious comedy that many consider the high point of his silent filmography, W.C. Fields suffers the endless abuse of petty customers, overbearing relatives, obnoxious children, and offensive objects in his quest for peace and quiet.

In the hilarious comedy that many consider the high point of his silent filmography, W.C. Fields plays Elmer Prettywillie, a misanthropic, small-town pharmacist whose lovely shop assistant (Louise Brooks) gets him involved in a phony real estate scheme. Prettywillie suffers the endless abuse of petty customers, overbearing relatives, obnoxious children, and offensive objects in his quest for peace and quiet. The story was later revised and revamped in the talkies The Pharmacist (1933) and It’s a Gift (1934). (US, 1926, 77 min., Silent with English subtitles, 35mm print from the Library of Congress | Dir. A. Edward Sutherland)
