Born out of the Great Depression, swing dancing elevates the human spirit beyond one's circumstances as dancers can move to the beat for the sheer joy of it and disappear into something bigger, something dazzling, a space without a critic or a judge or an analyst. Susan Glatzer is Director of Alive and Kicking and has been swing dancing for 18 years. Her track record of productions and acquisitions has garnered seven Academy Awards® and 19 Academy Award® nominations along with numerous awards at the Cannes, Sundance, and Venice film festivals.
