An error puts a strict teacher from Northern Italy with street-smart third graders to the South.
In a bureaucratic error, a teacher from the prosperous North is assigned to a ramshackle school in an impoverished Southern village. Marco inspires his students and their families with an interest in school. In return, his pupils help him shed some of his cultural baggage, teaching him about the joys and trials of surviving chaos. Film Historian, Irene P. Eckert has been presenting
films throughout Long Island for 12 years. She previously taught social
studies and psychology at Northport High School for 35 years. An Italian
immigrant herself, she not only examines Italian cinema but its
cultural and historical significances.
