After a tragic riding accident, young cowboy Brady, once a rising star of the rodeo
circuit, is warned that his competition days are over. He undertakes a search for a
new identity and what it means to be a man in the heartland of America. The film
stars non-actor Brady Jandreau (and his family members) in a story that is loosely
based on his life. Chloé Zhao directs this hybrid of docudrama and fiction while
Brady’s true story played out in real life. After premiering and winning an award at
the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, it had a triumphant festival run at Telluride, Toronto,
Sundance, and scored five nominations in the Independent Spirit Awards including
Best Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.
