Journey's End
Journey's End | 107mins |
Based on a movie, based on a play, based on a war that ended one hundred years ago this year. It's March, 1918, and World War I is drawing to a close. That can all change based on what happens in the trenches, and the pressure is sinking in. Captain Stanhope takes solace in alcohol; Second Lieutenant Hibbard goes old-school and simply tries to hide his fear from everyone; Stanhope's second-in-command Osborne succeeds where Hibbard doesn't and strikes up friendships with the subordinates. Along the way, they're joined by Raleigh, fresh out of training. Raleigh has requested the placement so he can be near his friend and hero Captain Stanhope, and he looks forward to his first battle with the enthusiasm of someone who has never seen it before. Fortunately for all of them, they're due to be rotated out within six days. Unfortunately for them, the Germans are on the move. And so they wait, trying to get by as they see if they'll see their hoped-for rotation or the unwanted Germans first.
