Nantucket
Comedy Festival Presents Stand Up & Learn
Thursday,
Friday & Saturday, June 7–9, the Nantucket Comedy Festival presents our
popular Stand Up & Learn Winter Workshop and Professional Comedy
Series. Executive Director Kevin Flynn
will be on island to conduct the workshops for Stand Up & Learn, a comedy
education program for young people ages 8–18.
An initiative of the Nantucket Comedy Festival, Stand Up & Learn
enables island children to build self-confidence while learning to create and
perform original stand-up comedy.
Children can choose to perform in a special kids’ show on Saturday
evening at the Dreamland, and even return in the summer for Stand Up &
Learn’s Kids’ Night on Wednesday, July 11.
Workshops for
this session will take place in the Dreamland Studio Theater, 17 South Water
Street, on Thursday and Friday, June 7–8 from 3:30–5 p.m. and on Saturday, June
9 from 10 a.m.–12 p.m., followed by a children’s performance at 5 p.m. put on
by the workshop participants. Please
sign up soon, as this class will be limited to a maximum of fifteen
children. All children’s workshops are
free to participants. Saturday evening at 7:00, a professional stand up comedy
show (for ages 18 and over) in the Dreamland’s main theater will feature Mark
Riccadonna and Richie Byrne.
Please note,
portions of this workshop will be filmed for use in a promotional video.
