Description

When the First Intifada, a nation-wide uprising, breaks out in 1987, a woman in Gaza must make a choice between love, family, and freedom. Undaunted, she embraces all three and joins a clandestine network of women in a movement that forces the world to recognize the Palestinian right to self-determination. This engaging film revolves around the remarkable story of Naila Ayesh, an activist who has spent years building the infrastructure for women’s economic independence and self-sufficiency for all Palestinians under Israeli occupation. Evocative under-camera animation, intimate interviews, and exclusive archival footage bring out of anonymity the courageous women who shook the Israeli occupation.

Screening with short film:

And an Image Was Born

Razi, a two-year-old Palestinian child, loves to hear the story of “The Monster.” The tale is an allegory of the Palestinian situation, but Razi is too young to understand its political significance; he just wants to imagine and live through its details over and over again.
