Living a bare-bones existence as tenant farmers in the small Basque village of Altzo, Antonio (Ramon Agirre, Amour) and his sons Martin (Joseba Usabiaga) and Joaquin (Eneko Sagardoy, Goya Award winner, Best New Actor) live a simple life of modest ambitions and mounting debts. When the hand of fate plucks Martin to fight in the First Carlist War, the elder brother gets a welcome taste of the world outside his impoverished community, though the war’s end sends him back to Altzo and a shocking new reality: afflicted with gigantism, Joaquin has grown into an unnaturally enormous size. Antonio (Ramon Agirre, Amour) y sus hijos Martín (Joseba Usabiaga) y Joaquín (Eneko Sagardoy, ganador del premio Goya a Mejor Actor Revelación) viven una vida precaria como granjeros arrendatarios en la pequeña aldea vasca de Altzo, llena de modestas ambiciones y deudas que se acumulan. Cuando por fuerza del destino Martín tiene que irse para luchar en la primera guerra Carlista, el hermano mayor le da una probada al mundo fuera de su comunidad empobrecida. Sin embargo, el final de la guerra lo envía de vuelta a Altzo y a una nueva realidad: su hermano Joaquín sufre de gigantismo y ha crecido de tamaño. Pronto el charlatán local José Antonio (Iñigo Aranburu) convence a Martín de sacar ventaja económica de la condición de su hermano y elabora una mitología que lleva consigo alrededor de España: los dos hermanos pronto se convierten en objeto de fascinación dentro y fuera del país.
