Description

Yang Mingming makes her acting and directorial debut in this hilarious and heartfelt comedy about mothers and daughters. Starring as Wu, a woman in her late twenties living in Beijing, Yang portrays a neurotic writer whose life is in a constant tailspin. Her costar in equal measure is Wu's mother, played to perfection by Nai An. Wu's mother is a writer as well, eccentric to a fault and clearly a slightly older, slightly hardened version of Wu. While the two are indeed a kooky pair, their complicated bond as mother and daughter and as women, undergoing all too similar life changes, is at the forefront of this story. They fight, they argue, they eat together and they fall in and out of love, all while navigating a world that may not allow their codependence to last forever.
