Director Naziha Arebi illuminates the current climate of women's rights in Libya through the world of soccer. In Freedom Fields, the Libyan women's soccer team has faced an uphill battle to play the sport, with little support from the community at large. Following three players through the years, the film delves into the pressing issues the players contend with to live their dream as they prepare for their first international game. Coming from a diverse range of social and political pasts, the players are confronted with the reality of a society that may never support them, or worse, prevent them from succeeding. But this documentary is not without hope, for the players soon find a new opportunity in the road to achieving their goals–inspiring others.
