Description

Not since Ellen Page astonished in Juno has a young Canadian acting talent crafted such a searing and original performance as does Karelle Tremblay in this emotionally effective drama. She's Léo, a restless, cynical, world-weary high school student -- certainly too smart and too rebellious for her small town. Léo rejects her mother's bourgeois lifestyle and actively despises her step-father, a smarmy, right-wing radio host. Meanwhile, she idolizes her father, a union leader who is rarely in town. Will a summer job at the baseball field and guitar lessons with shy older musician Steve ground her? Or will her wanderlust win out? Director-writer Pilote provides a fresh view of teenage angst and the possibility of exciting opportunities or things going horribly wrong. Winner, Best Canadian Feature Film, 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
