Description

Meeting Gorbachev is a film that gets right to the point. From Werner Herzog and Andre Singer, this documentary is an intimate sit-down with the Soviet Union's eighth, and last President, Mikhail Gorbachev. Gorbachev's life story is certainly one for the history books--he rose through the Communist Party into the Presidency of the USSR, where he dealt with prominent issues such as Germany's reunification, Chernobyl, and negotiations with U.S. President Ronald Reagan. As a historical figure, Gorbachev is remembered for his altruism and wise leadership. Filmed over the course of six months and three interviews, this portrait of Gorbachev is both an enlightening look inside his presidency and a portrait of a man who, at 87, represents a rare version of leadership.
