May 25, 2021 marks one year since the killing of George Floyd, a day to reflect, call for justice, and heal. The MSPIFF40 Audience Choice winning short documentary, Say His Name: Five Days for George Floyd, focuses on the aftermath following George Floyd’s murder. The film will be available to view for free through May 27.

The incomprehensible police murder of George Floyd on May 25th, sparked a global uprising, the epicenter in Director Cy Dodson's Minneapolis neighborhood, revealing an immersive observation of unrest in the days between the killing of George Floyd and the charges filed against police officer Derek Chauvin.

Director Biography

Cy Dodson Cy Dodson is an Emmy-nominated Director and Editor located in Minneapolis. His documentary work has screened at film festivals world-wide, including his 2018 short film, Beneath the Ink (2018) which tackles complex racial issues in his Ohio hometown highlighting human stories of forgiveness and redemption. Beneath the Ink was Emmy Nominated in 2019, won Jury Awards at DocEdge (Academy qualifying), BendFilm and Fargo Film Festival. And won Audience awards at Palm Springs Shortfest, DC Shorts, and Dances With Films. Conde Nast acquired Beneath the Ink for their GQ Stories platform, and it was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick 2020. Say His Name: Five Days for George Floyd was one of four films selected for Twin Cities PBS’s 2020 Project, which will have its broadcast premiere in May. Cy is the recipient of the 2020 McKnight Fellowship for Media Arts and the 2021 Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship for Media/Film. Cy owns and operates Triumph Pictures, specializing in documentaries and doc-style branding content for corporate and non-profit clients.
