“AMERICAN INDIE DEBUTS OF THE 1980s – Masters of Jewish Cinema”
(Presented by the Miami Beach Film Society)
In 1982 when lower Manhattan was in the midst of serving as a vibrant drifter central for the world, Susan Seidelman’s Smithereens tells the story of a young punk named Wren who lived it. The “no wave” film movement had begun for those who didn’t feel a part of other waves, and this film was unofficially part of that burgeoning all-American scene.
