Description

José Andrés is one of the world’s most renowned chefs and a well-known TV personality. But he is most proud of his work as the founder of World Central Kitchen (WCK), whose goal is to provide meals in the wake of natural and manmade disasters. Most recently, he has led WCK’s heroic efforts to feed over 1 million Ukrainians.

Founded in 2010, after the Haitian earthquake, World Central Kitchen (WCK) brings its team into areas devastated by tragedy, working with local chefs and members of the food community to cook meals, provide safe drinking water and help build makeshift kitchens. Ron Howard’s admiring portrait, alternately warm and harrowing, takes viewers around the world to experience first-hand WCK’s work in Puerto Rico, Haiti, Guatemala, and in the U.S., including coming to the aid of quarantined cruise passengers and health care workers during the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In between working to make a difference in various crisis zones, Andrés returns home to try to organize his own kitchen and enjoy life with his wife and daughters. An inspiring testament, not just to Chef Andrés, but to all relief workers who are making a difference.
