Description

Age 9+, family documentary

Color Killer is a group of 8-to12 year-old boys in a pop punk band in suburban Massachusetts. With a whiff of “Spinal Tap,” this inspiring music documentary reveals the lives of the pre-teen performers as they dye their hair bright manic colors and wrestle with the highs and lows of punk rock stardom, or rather, middle school angst turned up to 11. Adding in a little pop psychology, SNL’s Chris Parnell plays the part of a family therapist talking behind the scenes with the equally close-knit parents of Color Killer, who serve as the kids’ hard-working managers and roadies. Counting down to the biggest performance of their lives, can these unique, sensitive, and charismatic kids hold up to the pressure? Can their parents? This head-banging, nail-biting, and ultimately delightful coming of age punk parable will strike a loud and expressive chord with kids, families, and music lovers alike.
