Description

Age 15+, YA documentary

A film about the next generation, made by the next generation, tells the story of the growing surge of young activism worldwide. Join three Gen Z activists on the frontlines of social and environmental change. Meet Pepper, on strike for democracy in Hong Kong; Hilda, protesting the effects of the climate crisis created by rich countries on poor women and children in Uganda; and Rayen, fighting for social equality and human rights in Chile. Winner of the Audience Award at Hot Docs, Dear Future Children is made by Gen Z filmmakers, who tell the stories of their subjects as comrades and peers with shared humor, anxieties, idealism, and concerns. Their intimate portraits show the inner struggles of choosing every day to fight. Bearing witness to the complex ways activism changes young lives, these counter narratives capture the energy, anger, and ingenuity of young activists who risk their lives for our future children.
