Based on the Broadway play by Mary Roberts Rinehart and
Avery Hopwood, The Bat, follows a master criminal as he terrorizes a mansion
filled with the guests of a mystery writer, in which $20,000 of stolen money is
hidden. Soon a detective and the guests of the mansion join in a search for the
location of the money and the identity of the Bat. The Bat served as the
inspiration for the comic book superhero “Batman.” (US, 1926, 86min., 35mm, Silent with English intertitles | Dir. Roland West)
