Arriving home after giving birth to her only child, 35-year-old Amaia (Laia Costa, Veronica), wants nothing more than to rest, nurse baby Jone and eat sushi. Attended by her frequently-absent partner Javier (Mikel Bustamante), doting father Koldo (Ramón Barea) and no-nonsense mother Begoña (Susi Sánchez, Julieta, The Skin I Live In), Amaia quickly becomes acquainted with the intense and unending stresses of new parenthood. With emotions heightened, nerves frayed and the young couple at each other’s throats, Javier takes yet another job that will take him away for an extended period, forcing Amaia to find the help she needs and move in with her parents. As three generations settle in and Amaia senses her previous life is slipping away, she comes to the quiet realization that her parents themselves are barely holding things together, their sharp points continually piercing one another—and uncovering a secret her mother has long kept buried. Al llegar a casa después de dar a luz a su único bebé, Amaia (Laia Costa, VERONICA) de 35 años, no quiere más que comer sushi, amamantar a su bebé Jone y descansar. Atendida por su a veces ausente pareja, Javier (Mikel Bustamante), su atento padre, Koldo (Ramón Barea) y su enérgica madre, Begoña (Susi Sánchez , JULIETA, LA PIEL QUE HABITO), Amaia no tarda en enfrentarse a la intensa e interminable tensión de la nueva maternidad. Con las emociones a flor de piel y los nervios de punta, sumado a los enfrentamientos de la joven pareja, Javier acepta otro trabajo que lo aleja de la familia por un largo período de tiempo, por lo que Amaia se ve obligada a buscar la ayuda que necesita y se muda a casa de sus padres. Mientras las tres generaciones se ajustan y Amaia siente que su identidad se le escapa, en silencio percibe los ataques mutuos entre sus padres, lo que le hacen ver que ya ni se soportan— y se desentierra un secreto que su madre ha enterrado por mucho tiempo. Cuando una emergencia de Begoña cambia la dinámica familiar irrevocablemente, esta se encuentra tan indefensa como su propia nieta. Poco a poco, Amaia se va dando cuenta que la situación de sus padres es un espejo de su propia realidad, lo que le lleva a desarrollar una empatía que viene no solo de aprender a amar a una persona difícil, sino de abrazar y aceptar su familia imperfecta, en esta Ópera Prima llena de emoción y franqueza de la guionista y directora Alauda Ruiz de Azúa que Pedro Almodóvar catalogó como "El mejor debut del cine español en años”.
