The dapper and unflappable Raymond Griffith stars in this hilarious silent whodunnit that involves priceless jewels, a murder and evidence that keeps disappearing. Griffith was one of the mid-1920s' biggest silent comedy stars, but whose name and films are largely forgotten today. This sophisticated comedy murder mystery was directed by Arthur Rossen and the title cards written by humorist Robert Benchley are a particular highlight. Like many silent stars, his reputation has suffered because most of his films have been lost. Walter Kerr, in his book "The Silent Clowns"" wrote that Raymond Griffith was deserving of a fifth place on the Mt. Rushmore of silent comedy, along with Chaplin, Keaton, Lloyd and Langdon.  Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see one of his funniest feature comedies in a beautiful new restoration from Undercrank Productions & the Library of Congress! (USA, 1926, 66 min., B&W, DCP) Opening for Raymond Griffith is the 2-reel Charley Chase comedy Dog Shy (1926), directed by Leo McCarey.
