Originally titled Pahanhautoja, female Finnish director Hanna Bergholm is giving birth to the next generation of body horror films. Hatching explores the painful relationship between a young girl and her demanding mother. Mother wants to impress her book club with Tinja’s gymnastics success. Tinja wants a quiet life with her new best friend, a mutated egg she found in the woods. Can love win over ego, or will they become one in the same?
