MY NEIGHBOR ADOLF
Starring David Hayman and Udo Kier

In early 1960s Colombia, a cantankerous Holocaust survivor
who passes his time tending to a garden growing black roses (his deceased
wife’s favorite flower) and studying chess. His routine is interrupted by the
arrival of a German man who he gradually becomes convinced is none other than
Adolf Hitler. As potentially corny as the premise may sound, My
Neighbor Adolf is a surprisingly resonant and yes, touching tale of
loneliness and misunderstanding. It is also a master class in acting, with
assured and nuanced performances by the Scottish actor David Hayman (Hope and Glory, Sid and Nancy, Rob Roy) and
the great German veteran actor Udo Kier,
who has worked extensively with top directors including Werner Herzog, Rainer
Werner Fassbinder, and Gus Van Sant. (Israel/Colombia/Poland, 2022, 96min.,
In English, German, Spanish, Yiddish, and Hebrew | Dir. Leon Prudovsky)
