Twenty years ago, three friends in the flower of their youth met to take up a challenge: to build on the beach of a small Uruguayan village a beach restaurant like the ones that used to exist in the 50s. Pure simplicity and honesty. A wood and straw ranch on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, where tales of Argentina, Uruguay, sea bass, silverside, the great artist Pedro Figari, fishermen, good wines, Francis Mallmann and the omnipresent fire, toasts and friendship as their starting and finishing point interweave. The owners of La Huella -Martín Pittaluga, Gustavo Barbero and Guzmán Artagaveytia- opened the restaurant to feed tourists on vacation during the summer and the people of José Ignacio all year round. Shortly thereafter, boutique hotels, luxury sports cars, and fashionable celebrity began to descend on the sleepy fishing village. Over the years, the trio have brought their expertise in European and South American restaurants: an ecosystem that is as much a way of life as it is a place for good food.
Hace veinte años, tres amigos en la flor de la juventud se reunieron para emprender un reto: construir en la playa de un pequeño pueblo uruguayo un restaurante de playa como los que existían en los años 50. Pura sencillez y honestidad. Una construcción de madera y paja a orillas del Océano Atlántico, donde se cuentan historias de Argentina, Uruguay, corvinas, pejerreyes, el gran artista Pedro Figari, pescadores, buenos vinos, Francis Mallmann y el omnipresente fuego, brindis y amistad como punto de partida. Los dueños de La Huella -Martín Pittaluga, Gustavo Barbero y Guzmán Artagaveytia- abrieron el restaurante para alimentar a los turistas de vacaciones durante el verano y para la gente que vive en José Ignacio todo el año. Poco después, hoteles boutique, autos deportivos de lujo y celebridades de moda comenzaron a llegar al tranquilo pueblo de pescadores. A lo largo de los años, el trío ha aportado su experiencia en restaurantes europeos y sudamericanos: un ecosistema que es tanto una forma de vida como un lugar para la buena comida.
