In celebration of the Cinema Arts Centre’s 50th Anniversary, the CAC Through the Decades series will present some favorite films from each decade that we have been delivering our mission on Long Island. Our 2000s selection is Guillermo del Toro's PAN'S LABYRINTH.

Each screening will be followed by a special reception and proceeds will benefit the programs and operations of the Cinema Arts Centre so that we can continue to bring the widest range of film programs and unique special events to our community for decades to come.

Pan's Labyrinth is the story of a young girl named Ofelia who is offered the chance to live her own fairytale while existing in a very real and violent world. Set in post-Civil War Spain in 1944, eleven year old Ofelia travels with her pregnant mother to live with the sociopathic Captain Vidal who is also Ofelia’s new stepfather. Captain Vidal leads the Spanish army against a small band of rebels who are hiding out in the woods. Ofelia begins her journey through an eerie but beautiful fantasy world the moment she arrives at the Captains headquarters. Ofelia creates her own world as she faces unsettling realities with much disappointment. (Spain/Mexico, 2006, 118 mins, R, Spanish with English subtitles, Dir. Guillermo del Toro)
