With over 20 years of stand-up comedy and television under
his belt, Chris Monty continues to
delight audiences worldwide. His latest projects include his stand-up special
titled "What's the Worst That Could Happen" (Amazon Prime), Vinyl
(HBO), Red Oaks (Amazon Prime), Paul Bart: Mall Cop 2 (Sony Pictures), Kevin
Can Wait (CBS), and Orange is the New Black (Netflix).
In
his stand-up, Chris channels the style of the 1960's cool funnyman mixed with a
modern chic. His unique take on current topics and storytelling are reminiscent
of the comics that would keep The Rat Pack in stitches for weeks. He spans
generations in that older crowds love his cool, retro style and younger crowds
see a cadence that they haven't seen on stage. It is truly something unique to
experience. Chris's experience as a stand-up comic also lends itself to his wide
ranging acting work. He uses his quick improvisational skills and ability to
use physical slapstick and timing to enhance his lead and supporting actor's
roles.
After
his set he’ll share stories about his comedy career and many acting roles.
Our Host Steven
Taub is an Emmy nominated documentary filmmaker whose body of
work includes ‘Laugh a Day.’ In this film he interviewed comedy
legends Robert Klein, David Brenner, Richard
Belzer and Dom Irrera. Steven has produced and written
comedy for numerous forms of media. As a filmmaker he has interviewed dozens of
people with various backgrounds comfortably unearthing their stories, passions
and intellect. Now, Steven brings his vast interviewing experience to the
Cinema Arts audience with the live program “Stand-Up/Sit-Down”
wherein he will book Comedy Club headliners for performance and then interview
them. Getting to know the comedian you just saw will enhance your evening
tremendously. Every comedian has fascinating and fun stories. Steven will ask
the pertinent questions that will bring their stories to light.
