Featuring a screening and presentation on The Tiny
Yet Mighty World of Nanomaterials

Brookhaven National Laboratory
$16 Public | $10 Members | Free for Young Film Fan Members!
Join us for an entertaining and illuminating evening
focusing on the super powers of some very, very, very small things! Armed with
the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man
Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor,
Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his
spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against
seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist
that will save the world. (USA, 2015, 117 mins., color, DCP)
Dr. Sara E.
Mason is an explorer of
the tiny yet mighty world of nanomaterials. For 12 years she was a professor at
the University of Iowa, teaching chemistry to thousands of students and
co-authoring over 65 articles in scientific journals. In 2022, her
collaborative style of using theory and modeling to tackle complex problems in
nanoscience drew her to Brookhaven National Laboratory, where she now leads the
Theory and Computation Group in the Center for Functional Nanomaterials. The
group is driving the use of cutting-edge computational methods, including
artificial intelligence, in the quest for discovering new materials in energy
and technology. Sara is also a parent to two school-age kids, enjoys
hiking/biking, and has a strong passion for making science accessible to all.
An initiative of the COOLIDGE CORNER THEATRE, with major support from the ALFRED P. SLOAN FOUNDATION.
Special Thanks to Brookhaven National Laboratory for
making this event possible.
