Description

Join the Miami AIDS Memorials Project for a free screening of the award-winning documentary film, The Grove (2011), which traces the history of the National AIDS Memorial Grove in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, grappling with major questions of how communities collectively remember and commemorate HIV/AIDS.

Founded in 2024, the Miami AIDS Memorials Project aims to make the history of HIV/AIDS visible in Miami’s built environment through the activation of existing public artwork and through community-engaged planning for commemorative interventions at sites related to the local history of the epidemic.

The film will be followed by a special virtual discussion with the film’s producer/director/cinematographer, Andrew Abrahams.

We’ll treat you to some popcorn and non-alcoholic drinks, too! Join this important conversation and help us make AIDS history.
