On countless lists of best films for children, this timeless classic is perfect for kids and adults alike. My Neighbor Totoro is a fantastical walk in the woods. Nestled in the Japanese countryside in a new and unfamiliar town, two young sisters meet enchanted dust bunnies and mythical beings while their father cares for their ailing mother. The girls first meet a small Totoro that leads them into the thicket of magical creatures that include the titular Totoro himself and a ride on the Cat Bus. As he is wont to do, Miyazaki imbues his protagonists with the utmost humanity in even the most fantastic of circumstances. Legendary critic Roger Ebert said it best: "Awe-inspiring and enchanting...Whenever I watch it, I smile, and smile, and smile."
