Abby
a.k.a. Possess My Soul
a.k.a. Black Exorcist
Abby doesn't need a man anymore... the Devil is her
lover now!
"Although raggedly produced and
often slipshod in its execution, there is are a number of interesting ideas at
play in Abby that the film does not deserve its status as a camp blaxploitation
Exorcist ripoff." - Film Bunnies
"It's a pretty fun and entertaining
film; well-acted by the leads and sometimes hilarious." - The Bloody Pit of Horror
"See this with others. It's an
(unintentional) scream!!" - Bad Movie Night
The story
of a woman possessed...
Archaeologist
and preacher, William Marshall (Blacula) unknowingly brings back a demon from
his recent trip to Africa and unleashes it
on his minister son's wife, Abby (Carol Speed). The wholesome Abby is
soon swearing, spewing, and coming on to strangers while beginning the expected
demon possession transformations. Can her husband and father-in-law stop
the demon before the transformation is complete, or will poor Abby go through
life speaking in a demonic tone while spewing gibberish and amusing anti-Christian
sentiments?
One of the
better possession flicks to come to drive-ins across America, Warner Bros. sued over
similarities to The Exorcist and won, sending Abby into a void where it's
stayed to this very day. Never released to video, this film has been
lovingly restored by the American Genre Film Archive.
