It’s 1874 and a new railroad will soon be going through Rock Ridge, a tiny town on the Western frontier. The conniving Hedley Lamar wants to force the residents out so he can scoop up the land dirt cheap. His plan? Send the townsfolk a black sheriff. With Blazing Saddles, director Mel Brooks created one of the funniest films of his career by satirizing the myths of the American West. The often scandalous script was written in a chaotic shouting match between five writers, which included Richard Pryor. The cast features some of Brooks’ finest collaborators, including Gene Wilder, Madeline Kahn, and Harvey Korman.
