THE ORNITHOLOGIST
“Its scope is a series of various, massive location shots, but instead of
filling them with CGI robots, it is humans who stick out as unnatural,
secondary….The effect is both immersive for the world and luminous to the soul
of Rodrigues’ film…This is a movie well worth seeing on the big screen”
—Nick Allen, rogerebert.com
Fernando, a solitary ornithologist, is looking for black storks when he
is swept away by the rapids. Rescued by a couple of Chinese pilgrims, he
plunges into an eerie and dark forest, trying to get back on his track, until the
pilgrims force him into extreme behavior to survive a series of brutal tests.
