This Is Your Youth ~ September 18 -23

Blackbird ~ February Dates TBA

The Buffalo Play ~ April Dates TBA

This Is Our Youth (1996)
by Kenneth Lonergan

It’s 1982 in New York City. Crime has spiked in the city, Ronald Reagan is president, "Bette Davis Eyes" is the most popular song on the radio, and a despondent 19-year old named Warren Straub has just stolen $15,000 from his abusive father. Hoping for assistance, Warren shows up at the doorstep of his  drug-dealing friend Dennis Ziegler, who, unfortunately, is just beginning to realize his own mortality. In the midst of this crisis, Warren also attempts to woo the precocious Jessica, a girl struggling to carve out a place in the world for herself. Taking place over the course of a single night, This Is Our Youth illustrates how one night can change a person, but perhaps only in ways that can be understood with the clarity that comes with retrospection and the passage of time. (read more and buy tickets...)

Blackbird
(2005)
by David Harrower

After years in prison and subsequent hardships, Ray, fifty-six, has a new identity and has made a new life for himself, thinking that he cannot be found. Una, twenty-seven, has thought of nothing else; upon seeing a photo of Ray in a magazine, she has arrived unannounced at his office. Guilt, rage, and raw emotions run high as they recollect the passionate relationship they had fifteen years ago, when she was twelve and he was forty. Without any moral judgments, the play never shies away from the brutal truth of this abandoned and unconventional love. Una is looking for answers, not vengeance. Nevertheless, the consequences are shattering. David Harrower's Blackbird forces you to look at the complexity of desire, manipulation, and shame and realize that monsters are human and nothing is black and white.

The Buffalo Play (2018)
by Ciara Griffin and Kendra Potter

The Buffalo Play uses magical realism to tell the story of an east coast social justice worker grappling with the consequences of her well-meaning but misguided actions resulting in the death of a bison calf during her trip to Yellowstone National Park. When she finds herself held in a jail cell, with a bison cow (the mother of the calf she killed) and local rancher as her cell mates, she must reckon with her worldview and understanding of nature.
