Cult or genuine cultural force? For the public at large, 'Hare Krishna' was one of the more eccentric of the neo-spiritual movements typical of the late 60's and 70's. For sociologists and scholars, the Krishna movement was an unparalleled opportunity to observe, in the scrutiny of modernity, a religions tricky transition from the local to global stage. This film chronicles the startling growth during the movements early days of expansion through engaging observations on the character and activities of its larger than life founder Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
This is not a Michigan Theater presentation; Gold Card members do not get in free.
